Investor Indicators

Marketbeat outlines a raft of investor indicators that might be worth checking.

There are many sites, one of my favorite ones that offer high-quality stock research tools and making them available to investors at all levels is Marketbeat.

The site is user-friendly and provides some very helpful investor indicators.

So, if we take a look at Blackberry (BB) with Marketbeat some of the investor indicators include , institutional ownership, SEC filings, short interest, and social media.

These investor indicators will raise your knowledge about the stock and hopefully help you make better informed successful investment decisions.

Let’s zero in on just a handful of some investor indicators

Investor Indicators

Insider Trades is just one of them, this information provides insider buying and selling activity. The insiders are the directors the managers of the business. Insider trades provides Insider Ownership Percentage as a percentage and the volume of insiders buying and selling over the past month. Insider trades information is useful for obvious reasons, bearing in mind managers are closest to the business than anyone. But directors, managers could sell for other personal reason too, so Insider trades used in isolation is not that useful.

Institutional ownership, what the so-called smart money is doing, is high on the list of useful investor indicators

Professional money managers make it their business to be well informed, close to company management, and tend to make profitable investments. Institutional ownership is laid out in bar chart format over a quarterly period for easy comparison.

SEC filings should also be on the investor indicators list

You have the option to search all filing types and you can also include ownership filings.

Short Interests Ratio and Short Volumes are also included on the list of good investor indicators

The short interest ratio, also known as the “days to cover ratio”, is calculated by dividing the number of shares of a stock sold short divided by its average trading volume. A short interest ratio ranging between 1 and 4 generally indicates strong positive sentiment about the stock and a lack of short-sellers. A short interest ratio of 10 or greater indicates strong pessimism about a stock.

In the age of social media, the new media should also be included on the list of useful investor indicators

As we saw recently with Reddit Activists an army of retail investors organized on social media has the potential to move stocks.

So, the useful investor indicators outlined above can steer you into making better investment decisions when used together, along with technical and fundamental analysis.

Wishing you all prosperous investing and trading.
